After Manitoulin Island, Parry Island is the largest island on Georgian Bay. With 126 kilometres of shoreline, Parry Island consists of 77 square kilometres. The Wasauksing First Nation has title to all but the extreme north-east corner of the island. Since the early 1970s, Wasauksink Lands Inc. has leased 244 cottage lots along the north and western shore on the island.
Cottages of all styles and sizes now exist on these leased lot and often, come up for sale. You can get into a good starter cottage for a price often less than 60% of a comparable non-leasehold cottage on Georgian Bay. All the lots have hydro, road accessibility and a mix of rock, sandy and cobble shorelines.
The lease costs $3,530.00 per year, plus as of 2019, Wasauksing has started taxing the cottage properties base on market value assessments.
